It's correct that they have fitted garbage bins with microchips
in some parts of the country. ?So far the purpose is not to raise
a tax but to encourage rubbish separation for improved recycling.
Of course, if the past is any guide, this scheme will someday
expand into a full-blown tax....

We pay a private hauler to take our garbage.

In addition to paying city taxes to have them do it for you. ?Smart!

Nope, our town doesn't collect our garbage. ?It's not the appropriate
role of government. ;)

Ours either. We have a choice of contractors, a menue of services, or
the right to go to the dump on our own hook for a minimal dumping
fee. It's that way most places around us.

Me, too. If I choose to, I can haul almost anything I want to the dump
myself, show my driver license to prove residency, and dump for free
(up to a ridiculously large amount)
