that it is rapid, or regular, changes in temp of 15-20 degrees or
more, that have the most damaging effect
They were also in total agreement that *lower* than normal is *FAR*
better than "higher" temps. One "collector" , who I trust implicitly
(not MRN), stores his long term boxes and cabs at appx 52 degreees,
partly because he feels that is best for his wine (common room for his
wine and cigars) as well as his cigars. *Note...he's been doing this
for 20+ years with consistent favorable results. I've had the
privelege of smoking a Dunhill and a Davidoff from his collection, and
neither were "past the prime" as most claimed they would be....and
they came straight from 52 degrees.
Around here' the problem is keeping the house at less than 80F during the summer! :-(
Fortunately cigars and I both find the upper end of the 60'sF as
comfortable
.
