Let me try and explain it to you.
You and I get together and pay taxes for something that mutually
beneficial to both of us. That's libertarian.
You and Paul Cook get together to take money from me to benefit you and
Paul. That communism.
The difference is that any contracting with government that we do, *we*
initiate. That's libertarian.
Government gets in our face whether we like it or not to provide
benefits for someone else. That's communism.
I know the difference between communism and libertarianism. The
question wasn't "what's the difference between communism and
libertarianism", but "What would the libertarians do if they
ran the government?" The original accusation is that the
philosophy of "no hitting and no stealing" is nearly universal.
No one is impressed that yet another sect has popped up
prating "Do unto others..." What we'd like to know is how
that philosophy is going to manifest itself when push comes
to shove. There are two issues. 1. What are the definitions
and boundaries of hitting and stealing and who gets to decide
them. 2. What does the government do about hitting and
stealing.
As an example: Communism does..... Now, what will libertarians
do?
