Remember when Lew owned JR Cigar and they actually had real specials
during the Christmas season?
Those were the days.
jacked their prices about 20% (based unempirically on price deltas
factoring the slight tax increases).
Currency exchange rates? Crop failures?
Be glad prices are holding steady.
As for me, I'm finding a pound of good pipe tobacco at $35-55 goes a lot
further than the same money spent on cigars.
I've been stocking up on pipe tobacco and pounds I bought last year
for $25 are up to near $40 this year. Now they're trying to get pipe
tobacco re-classified as RYO so they can tax it even more. Politicians
suck.
That last is a given - it begs the question of who are the servants and
who are the masters.
The tax on pipe tobacco went up only a couple bucks a pound, so how/why
did prices go from $25 to $40?
A good question. My guess would be to cover the losses on cigar and RYO sales.
