I can't speak for Hutch, but I'd guess it's got to do with this thinking that gay couples shouldn't be treated as "married" by the state.

Speaking of which: The guy who just sent 30,000 troops to Afghanistan to crush the Taliban and al Qaida was in Norway this morning to accept the Nobel *Peace* Prize!

I guess he follows Reagan. Peace through strength. Who'd a thunk it!
