No. It was absolutely her own fault. The questions were softballs,
and she hemmed and hawwed like an idiot. "What do you read to keep
you informed?" is not exactly the Spanish Inquisition.

Presumptuous, though. ;)

Not at all.

It absolutely was! If you can't even admit that ,then there's no point in trying to continue honest discussion with you.

It was phrased very pleasantly

Agreed. But it was stil presumptuous.

, and was simply aimed at determining what her favorite news publications were.

Oh sure -- and a perfectly valid question (although see my recent about what a "real" softball interview is like. I'm talking "Fresh Air"-league softball. :) All I was saying (and I was really just "making a funny", albeit a true one) was that "what do you read to keep yourself informed" is a presumptuious question. It presumes:

* You read.
* You attempt to stay informed.
* Your attempts to stay informed involve reeading.

In addition, while I agree that the opening was pleasant enough, that's also a tactic used in hostile interviews: ask a seemlingly inoccuous question, then blast the answer.

I am *NOT* saying this is what happened. I am pointing out that this seemingly inoccuous question is NOT evidence of a softball interview. By way of example: give me one answer that you think, had Sarah given it, Paul or Buck would not shred to bits as provably demonstrating that (a) she's stupid (b) she's uninformed and (c) she's completely and totally unfit for any public office at any level.

So, while I don't think that the Coric interview was particuarly hostile (it struck me as mostly even-handed, with just a tiny-bit of ratings-boosting "friendly sparring"), neither would I call it "a softball interview."

A "great" review is one with the name of the cigar before the review text in the body of the post. :)
