the gubmint would propose to take away peoples' guns?

Uh... have you been living under a rock?! This has happened in several
places, recently.

First, they get the FDA to ban Clove and berry flavored guns. "For the
children." Then, insidiously, they add this or that gun to the list,
until they're all banned. It takes time. The program doesn't need to
happen over night to have its disastrous effect.
