Oh, are you talking about per-diem for Government travel?
The family of a Government official should get no per-diem when
traveling, for any reason.
When my company sends me to Baltimore to do work at one of our many
holdings there, they do not offer to pay for my wife and kids to
travel with me, nor do they bump up my per-diem if I decide to bring
them along...
But when the executive VP of marketing goes on an extended trip, he's
not expected to get any work done if he can't have his wife and little
darlings along, so they DO pay.
When you get to be president (or governor), you can do that, too :)
Depends on the Company. Our bank does not pay for family travel or
expenses for anyone, and they expect that a person will get more done
if there are no little distractions running around...
