Exactly the opposite. Florida wanted to follow state law and continue
the recount. SCOTUS decided they had no right to, but as an
acknowledgement to how bad the decision they were making was, they
stated that Bush v. Gore could not be used as precedent. The decision
was a legal fiction that was worse than Roe v. Wade, with conservatives
taking a position against states' rights in order to place a Republican
in charge.
