You can keep it for a while- age tends to cause them to loosen a bit,
however you could be looking at keeping it for several years, and
there's no guarantees. You could also try "dryboxing" it, leaving it
sit for several hours to several days in a wood box, like a cigar box
or humidor with no credo. This will allow it to dehumidify slowly,
shrinking the leaves slightly and opening it up enough to smoke.
The drybox treatment would allow you to smoke it sooner, although it
*may* be slightly harsher than the other's you've enjoyed.
FWIW, I've never been too happy with the results I've gotten using a
Drawpoker, a device that puts a hole, or several holes, through the
middle of a plugged cigar and allows it to draw.
