I wonder at what temperature gold vapourises - I *really* wouldn't want
to inhale it!
Gold vaporizes at 4712 degF (2600 degC). Leaves (like tobacco) burn at only
300-550 degF (150-290 degC). So the extremely thin gold leaf on a cigar
would not vaporize when the cigar is smoked. It would all end up in the
ashtray.
Or in the air, as gold dust.
Now what are those ashes worth? If my calculations are right, enough gold
leaf to cover the cigar would be approximately one leaf. A "book" of 500
gold leaves weighs approximately 10 grams, so one leaf would weigh 10
grams/500 = .02 grams. At the current price of $29/gram it would be worth
about $0.58, not an insignificant amount.
Can I buy a book of 500 gold leaves for ~$290? It might be fun to
release the gold-edition MCRs... ;)
Misc "you know, right after I roll them in the first place... <sigh>"
