Oh, btw Ken, when I see someone in the office that I think needs
critical care or information when I send them on to the ED, I call the
ED, ask which MDs are on, pick one that I think is the best there,
speak with them, tell them my thoughts, give them the patient's name,
and they are taken care of quite well and quickly. Two patients come
to mind within the past 6 months...acute appendicitis in one of my
staff's 6 year old boy, and a possible pulmonary embolism in my office
staff's husband. Both clinical calls on my part were correct (OK
sometimes I get it right.)
