Vegas de Santiago

I will admit that Rudy is a personal friend, but I will not admit to bias when it comes to cigars.
My likes and dislikes are well documented and I do prefer throat ripping, tongue spanking, peppery examples of Cuba's best most of the time. However, when I just want an inexpensive, lawnmower and light beer accompaniment, the VdS line fits the bill.
I have about thirty kinds of low cost, mild or unidimensional sticks in my day-to-day humidor, and my go to cigar is still the VdS. I buy more than five hundred every year and keep 50-75 aside for aging. The oldest I have left has been seven years in the best environment possible and the flawless construction is now speckled with little crystals. When lit it burns evenly, producing large amounts of smoke with a distinct pepper and cream taste, reminiscent of my old favorite Quai D'Orsey, but without the Cuban punch.
All the grassy notes inherent in the younger cigars, have faded away in the mists of time. The result is a sub-$3 cigar that smokes like many products costing three times more, and without the burn problems, wrapper unraveling or plugging associated with equivalently priced products.
