I said "I think". I can only act on my beliefs, and I believe that He
would approve of my putting the needs of others ahead of my own.

In this case "cite" means "_why_ do you think that?" I.e., did
God tell you that about Himself? Did God tell Moses to tell you
that? Etc.

Further, as far as "witnessing the True Gospel" I do not like or
approve of proselytizing.

This isn't proselytizing. Think in terms of the Hassidic Jews
who wear certain clothes, eat certain foods, refuse to do many
things the rest of us do without thinking. They're not trying
to convert any of us, but they wear their religion on the outside.
It's "confession", not "proselytizing."

It's not my place to tell other people what to believe.

But it might be your place to tell other people what _you_
believe.

Faith is a personal matter. Personally, I see the drive to increase
Church membership as a drive to increase the church's bottom line.

This is true. My church never has a membership drive or a stewardship
Sunday. Amusingly, while we do virtually nothing to attract new
members, our congregation is growing. The church's job is to preach
the Word, not to "increase membership." So we announce our presence
in an occasional newspaper ad, and in the yellow pages. We're
content doing our job. If we get more members, great. If we don't,
also great.
