In addition to allowing authorities to track your movements, EZ Pass

They are being used to issue speeding tickets. You can get a ticket
for speeding if you get from one toll booth to another too quickly.
For example, if the distance between toll booth A to toll booth B is
30 miles, and the speed limit is 60 MPH, and you get from A to B in 20
minutes, it's obvious that you must have been speeding. Instant
ticket, no cop required!
Seems like an easy ticket-fight. "No, your honor, I don't actually know
who was driving my car. You see, at my house [optional: "commune" :)],
we just leave the keys lying on the table and whoever needs it, takes
it. I *do* wish Officer Johnson the best of luck in bringing this ne'er
do well to justice, though...! <smile>"
Btw, FastTrac is also used to help those highway signs that say
"Road-time to Hwy 880: 17 min.", etc. Cool use of technology, IMO.
I occasionally see Asian women driving with sun-visor shades, but worn
funny -- like pulled vertically in front of their faces. I used to
think it was some sort of fashion statement, but now wonder if it's to
defeat the red-light cameras. Heh.
