Another great way to do it is to let republicans control the purse
strings.
Then they hand out the public treasury like lottery winnings to their
favorite cronies while telling you to expect less and less from your own
government until the day comes when you've had enough and overthrow it.
Like they did in 1776.
I'm all for it. Let's reset to the 1776 set up. No income tax,
Senators represent the Several States instead of the wealthiest
citizens, weak Federal government, citizens self sufficient, no
welfare, no social security, no Medicare/caid, no Federal interference
in schooling or medicine or business. Yay.
You'd not survive 5 minutes in the world that was the 18th century. I've
said it before and I'll say it again, if you like what we call "modern
society" or what we call "civilization" then you'd better be prepared to
help pay for it. That is what you guys never realize. The things you take
for granted every day and could not fathom life without come at a cost. Oh
and their was taxation back in those days, lots of it. Taxes so onerous
that many could not pay and were imprisoned or made into defacto slaves to
the state. Except that most all of his taxes were used to support a
privileged elite and their wars of profit. Another big reason we had a war
with them. Does that situation sound a tad familiar?
The only thing I would insist we keep would be civil rights
legislation that absolutely guarantees that everyone is treated
exactly the same. No preferences for pet groups, no special treatment
for anyone, no racial quotas. "All men are created equal".
Written in the day when slavery was legal and women had no rights to speak
of. See how thing were not quite as rosy as you may think?
