What your saying does make sense, however, tax has already been paid
on that money (by the parents.) So the good ole' govt gets to dip
twice? Hardly seems fair.
Happens with all the money. Every penny you spend has already been subject
to income tax or capital gains levies. Companies get to pay corporate and
sales taxes before they pay your salary.
OTOH, the rich in this country pay very little in taxes based on
loopholes and shelters and such. So there is a good chance that tax
was not paid the first time round....
There is that, too.
