Huh?

"If the monthly cost goes up 10%, that's a 120% increase"...?!

Misc "always thought that the OLD math served us just fine..."

Liberal Mathematics at it's finest. Need any more proof that
Paulie is a fucking moron?

What we have here is called accounting.

If you get a 10% increase per month then your increase compiles as
it carries over to the next month. Your liability increases 10% per
month.
If you get a 10% increase recorded per year, then you divide it by
12
to get the effective increase. Simple. Even a 3rd grader could
understand it, but then that would explain a lot now wouldn'it it?

Work it out on a spread***. Just take the increase, project it to
the next month and then multiply by .1 and repeat for the whole
year.

Let's say you paid 100.00 a month for crack, 1200 bucks a year.
With me so far? Your crack dealer raised the rate 10% every month.
So that would look something like this:

100.00 110.00 121.00 etc
10.00 11.00 12.10

110.00 121.00 133.10

If you actually can accomplish this herculean feat of numerical
prowess, you will see the result is 2352.277. Which is almost a
100% increase. Certainly not a 10% increase. So I admit I was wrong
on that percentage.

It's actually an example of two accounting methods, cost vs accrual.

But stick to swapping tapes, Joey Boy. I know you're a linux jock
and all that but I wouldn't trust you to balance a checkbook.

Paul

You're a fucking nimrod. Mickey was not in any way talking about an
accrued increase. His monthly payment went up by 10%. If he was
paying $200 last year, he is paying $220 this year. There is not a
single insurance company that increases rates monthly.

The way he phrased it, he was inadvertently claiming accrual. You
guys are just such sticklers for absolute perfection, I guess I just
felt it my solmen duty to maintain the standards around here. And
show me one charging 200 bucks a month. And I do not mean
catastrophic coverage only. I mean a real plan. Get on it, genius.
Should be easy for you.

The $200 number was one of convenience, and you knew that as well. The
only companies that regularly use accrual in this way are banks, for
saving and loan, and you knew that, too. No company has ever raised
their rates on an accrual basis. You made a stupid statement, and now
are trying to blame everyone else for it. How very liberal of you...

You were caught out as an idiot, and now are trying to backtrack as
usual. And now you are caught as a liar, considering your constant
insistence that you have me killfiled. You sure didn't catch this
one from a quote. Noone else bothered to reply, since there was
nothing left to do but snicker at your idiocy.

*** you, Joey. You are the usual petulent, petty and jealous little
fool you've always been. Nothing ever changes with you. And you are
in my killfile 14 times. You kep changing your address - guess you
hate to be ignored. Sometimes it's just fun to poke you and watch you
explode like the grenade. If you were a bass you'd be on my wall.

I have changed my e-mail address no more than 5 times in the 10+ years
I have been posting here. The domain has been the same for the past 5,
at least. This latest change was made months ago. I'll make it easy
for you, doofus, killfile the domain. Noone else uses it, since I
haven't given anyone else an account...

And while you may believe me to have some lowly operations job, let's
remember that I have insurance and don't need to beg the government
to save me from an inability to support myself or my family, as you
seem so apt to do. I respect the job that operators do far more than
I respect any "independent consultant" that can't make enough money
to cover his medical expenses, or buy his own vehicle without an
inheritance...

Registered linux "user?" Oh my!!! Does that ever sound so like
technical and stuff. You can shorten it and call yourself a luser.

LOL. It has plenty of meaning to me, so why would I care if you like
it?

You're so jealous of a person who can make it on his own, buy whatever
he wants, has the respect of the business community, is called on to
solve problems idiots like you create, and has been doing it for 16
years.

LOL. We wouldn't bring in an independent. You hold no value. We do
hire larger firms with relationships with the larger manufacturers
(Cisco, HP, IBM, etc) to lower our costs on hardware repair, but we
wouldn't let them do much more than lay an image on a machine that we
have developed...

And 10 years before that as a wage slave working for far less than my
value.

In order to make what I make, as an independent, including the
benefits, I'd have to gross over $250K per year. And then I'd have to
do all the crap that I don't want to be bothered with (the books,
customer relations, etc). I think it has more to do with you not being
able to be competitive in the field, so you prey on small businesses
who don't know better...

If it were not for your kind, I'd not have a business cleaning up the
mess you leave behind.

LOL. I work for a fortune 500 bank. We don't hire idiots like you.
We'd prefer to keep the messes away, thanks...

Your jealousy is as obvious as
the crack in your ass. And when you actually have to start paying for
your own insurance, we can revisit the subjecgt.

Already do pay for my own. It is part of the negotiated salary.
That's how things work in the real world, paulie. Most of us make
ourselves competitive in the marketplace, negotiate a salary and
benefits package, and then live with it. We don't get on the internet
and whine about our bad decisions, and pray for nanny government to
come and save us from ourselves...

Hope you look forward
to the 2400 bucks a month it is going to cost you (average cost
private insurance family of 4). And that is just in 07. Let's see how
fond of the system you are then. But you can always start your own
business and show me how it's done.

Boy are you getting ripped. They must have seen you coming. My family
of 4 plan is $360/month in 07. It is self-funded by my company,
organized through Independent Health, and there is no employer
contribution. Employees pick their level of insurance ($360/month is
full coverage, no deductibles, $20/30 copays, and covered anywhere in
the world, though outside of the US and Canada, I have to manually
submit bills). In 08, it is increasing to $440/month. I think I'll
stick with that...

You truly are the bottom of the barrel, Paulie... But it is fun to
watch you squirm...

Dream on short, fat and stupid. You're just irate because you
couldn't get a refund on your 10 year supply of Extenze. Have fun
with your little Linux toys. You should get into Unix, the name is
perfect - it's about as fruitful as you are.

LMAO. Hmmm, now look around at the payrates of *nix Engineers as
opposed to Windows "specialists" (a dime a dozen), and get back to me.
And I already work with Unix, as well as Linux, Windows, Netware and
Cisco. All on a daily basis, as part of a team managing a nationwide
network with over 2000 servers. I'll take that over reloading windows
on the "office pc" of the local 7-11, thanks... You can keep that
market to yourself...

1) you know nothing about group versus private plans. No group plan is
NOT employer funded. And if your employer is not paying for your plan
- YOU are getting ripped. The only people I knew in big companies in
that category were the temps who all called themselves "consultants."
Big name for boobs that kept laser printers full of paper.

You know less than you let on. This is no surprise...

2) I guess we'll just add a 6 figure salary to your list of bull***
lies. As I recall the last time we had this talk your company was
considerably smaller than an F500. You're a fucking god-damned liar.

Last time we had this talk was when I was with me previous employer.
Another part of remaining competitive in the workplace is moving to
better things when they come along. I'm sure you'll be ecstatic to hear
that I started my new job in April, not like it was any of your business
or anything...

3) I worked for a fortune 100 oil company in '93 and was making 86K a
year at the age of 31. And I could teach you more about Cisco (being a
VAR) in an hour than you could forget in your whole miserable life.

LOL. I'm sure you could, Paulie. I'm sure you could. Shame you had to
live on such a pittance in SoCal.

Enjoy life in the big leauge. Keep pushing that mop around and maybe
one day you'll get noticed, Mr. Bigshot. If there is one thing in
demand in F500 companies it is janitors.

I do feel bad for you, Paul. Perhaps if you could find a blind, deaf
woman, you could get laid and lose that chip on your shoulder. But then
you'd be so much less entertaining...

Best learn to speak Arabic BTW. The way banks are crashing and selling
out to the Arabs even your mighty tech as will not last long.

;-) I think I'll stick with english... We're doing just fine... A
little busy right now from working on the conversion of our latest
acquisition, but it's nice to know where your next paycheck is coming
from. I hope that you, too, can someday find that kind of security. Not
all your relatives are likely to feel bad enough for you to leave you
part of their inheritance...
