We have a term for people like that in Britain: Champagne Socialists.

We just call them "Democrats".

Too factually correct, not sarcastic enough ...
;-)

You're right, and I thought a little more about this after my knee
jerk post. The term we use here for that class is "Limousine
Liberals".

But I noticed something fascinating in this thread. As soon as there
is factual empirical evidence that Democrats are, in fact, the party
of the wealthy, the party of the rich and powerful and their pet
constituencies, all of a sudden the apologists are in here with the
same old saw, "Seen one politician, seen 'em all! Republican,
Democrat, it's all the same".

No, it's not. That's why there are two parties. On some levels of
course they're the same. But not this one, and this is one that they
have made a defining characteristic, and even more reprehensible, a
moral club with which to beat their opponents over the head.

Once again the Democrats are shown to be much bigger hypocrites. Both
sides are hypocritical at times, yes, for sure. But Democrats foment,
and then pander to the white liberal guilt of the wealthy.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose <shrug>
.
