Gore gets a cold shoulder
October 14, 2007
Climate crusader: Al Gore.
ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that
helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the
product
of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".
Meteorologists are not climatologists. It's like saying that weather
on the news is an authority.
We're not talking about Steve Ducie here...
William M. "Bill" Gray, PhD is Emeritus Professor of Atmospheric
Science
at Colorado State University (CSU), and head of the Tropical
Meteorology
Project at CSU's Department of Atmospheric Sciences. Gray is noted for
his forecasts of Atlantic hurricane season activity.
Professor Gray served as a weather forecaster for the United States Air
Force, and as a research assistant in the University of Chicago
Department of Meteorology. He joined Colorado State University in 1961.
His team has been issuing seasonal hurricane forecasts since 1984.
Hardly a "weather bimbo".
He is not a climatologist. And the two sciences are not as related as
you
might think. However, the Gray's of the world are needed to pose
challenges. It is how scientific scrutiny works. And he is just 1
voice
after all. I am not saying he is unqualified, but he is not as
qualified as
those he criticizes in a field he is not trained in.
His main work, BTW was developed to be used by insurance companies to
determine policy coverage.
Paul
So, how is Al Gore qualified?
He's a spokesperson.
AKA a "talking head".
A figurehead.
"The face of..."
A poster child.
That does not inspire confidence and trust in his expertise on matters of
global importance. I might as well listen to the opinions of the guy
modelling Calvin Klein underwear.
