ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that
helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product
of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".

Meteorologists are not climatologists. It's like saying that weather bimbo
on the news is an authority.

The weather bimbo is not a meteorologist.

Just to be clear, though:

meteorology [mee-tee-uh-rol-uh-jee] Pronunciation Key
noun
1. the science dealing with the atmosphere and its phenomena, including
weather and climate.

meteorologist (m?'t?-?-r?l'?-j?st) Pronunciation Key
n.
1. One who studies meteorology.

Any "news" article that tries to conflate Al Gore with scientific theory is
just a smear.

Ok, I think most of us can agree on that... ;)

I don't know how many times it has to be repeated, he is a
spokesperson for the science and not himself a scientist.

The problem seems to be that he's a mis-spokes-person for sloppy junk
science. Much like your oil lawyers & 5th graders. Oh yeah, he's not
president, either -- so to set all the facts straight...

It is not "Al Gore's" theory.

Well, it's not ANYONE'S theory in the scientific sense (1). But it IS
many people's theory (including Al's, assuming he's not lying about his
beliefs) in the lay sense (6 & 7)... :)
