i would like to
see if a moderated version of what used to be ASC has been able to
dig itself out of the quagmire it had become and return to something
that originally drew me to participate in ASC back at its zenith.

Not likely. Usenet used to be hot and cutting edge. The younger

The rousing good discussions we had 15 years ago just can't happen
today, because
1. We're all 15 years older and we're not as passionate as we were
and 2. the young folks do their flaming elsewhere.
