It is all supply and demand, Bart, as it always has been, and always
will be. You can always find heart wrenching anecdotal examples of
"...some old lady froze to death in her apartment...", but you never
hear the whole story.

What if Grandma froze to death because she pissed away her pension
playing the lottery?

That's not the point. The point is that Texaco doesn't care about
Granny, but only about keeping stockholders happy. And they're
willing to be as evil as need be.

Supply and demand is such a fundamental, basic principle,

But we recognize that "supply and demand", uncheck, gives rise
to untold evil. That's why we regulate utilities, break
up monopolies, and protest Wal-Mart. We don't worry so much
about "sharp practice" anymore, but there are still moral lines
we pretty agree no one should cross.
