Not just the weather service. Paul Cook said it would be the worst

Did one ever even touch land? ;-)

Sounds like a pretty bad year for hurricanes, to me -- I mean, if they
couldn't even get a shot-on-goal...!

Misc "good predictin', Paul!"

As much fun as it can be to poke Paul with a pointy stick remember that
hurricane tracks are about as predictable as a roulette ball.
Last year we lucked out with La Nina redirecting storm paths and
weakening those that did kick up, this year El Nino may kick in and make
things kinda nasty.

not defending Paul, he's on his own

Ken,

You're behind the times. The 1970's cause celebre for weather was a new
Ice Age. El Nino/La Nina was the 1990's excuse for bad weather. The
current excuse is Global Warming. (If it is too hot it's global
warming, if it's too cold it is the backlash effect of global warming,
and if it is just right it is a meteorilogical anomaly and is tossed
out of the sample)

I guess we didn't have weather in the 1980's.
