I'm waiting for the glass company to finish my storefront so that I
can get the pictures to accompany my RTDA application. I'll be going
to the convention since it is only 100 miles from me. I haven't
checked the schedule yet so meetup is iffy.
My newspaper is getting me a press pass, so I can sneak you in if you want.

Interesting that is seems to hard to attend? I guess the cigar world
still wants to be a bit closed to "outsiders."
Normally with trade and industry shows, they are fairly easy to get a
pass for, if one is so inclined.
This is not a consumers event. It is a retail dealers event. It is
one of the only ways the manufacturers and distributors can get their
new products, advertising, marketing and merchandising programs in
front of their direct customers.
Folks like JR, Famous, CI and the like have their reps stop by almost
daily. Small shops like myself only get in front of the manufacturers
once a year. If the booths are crammed with consumers us little guys
miss out on our only opportunity to find out what the best ways to
make money with their products are going to be for that year. If we
don't know in advance it may be the difference between profit and
going out of business.
We pay our dues to the RTDA so that we can have this opportunity.
What did you pay?

Winger ... those who also pay there dues are those you should be
pissed at. I have on more than a few occasions, including this year
been offered the use of a pass by a couple different retailers and
also been offered to get in by a couple of manufactures/reps.
Most good reps will go threw all the deals available at the show with
a good customer the weeks before and the month after the show to be
sure you aint missed anything so dont worry ... you wont miss anything
and if you where the right badge you wont have to worry about all the
freegrazin interlopers clogging the booth you want to get in. The
special badges shows who has the power and those people get taken care
of before the masses you are so worried about. have fun at your first
show.
