POTUS Seal Cigar (Seriously Bad Stuff)

The Back Story: Several years ago I was at the Frey Bros. cigar in Vegas and saw some cans in the bargain bin. The cans had the presidential seal on them and looked pretty cool, so I bought a couple. The label on the bottom said that there were four Phillipine made cigars in there, but I had no intention of ever smoking them, so the cans went on the bookshelf in my office. A few weeks ago I decided to use one of the cans for a birthday gift for friend on the East Coast and I decided to replace the cigars with something more smokable. When I popped the top, a serious reek permeated the office - sorta reminded me of a chemical plant. Anyway, while a few good cigars were jetting on their way to Rhode Island, I was stuck with four sticks of vile-smelling chemical waste.

Oh, look! It's a train wreck!: So, of course I smoked one. The awful smelling smoke could not cover up the vile reek of the cigar itself. Given a choice, I'd take a Thompson cheroot any day over these guys. Cool band, though, dark blue with the POTUS seal. The remaining three went into a zip lock and into a paper grocery bag intended for the trash. I had forgot about'em until DeReviewGuyNick suggested reviewing a cigar. So I retrieved one from the zip lock and here goes...

Name: Who knows... The band reads "Seal of the President of the United States"

Country of Origin: Phillipines

Size: Robusto - about 5x50

Cost: $1.00 for four "cigars" and a really cool can.

Construction/Pre-light: Light for its size, definitely underfilled (in this case, that's probably a plus). Natural wrapper. Cut pretty ragged. Draw confirmed that it was underfilled. The reek had dissipated from Vile to merely Repulsive.

Smoke and "Taste": Lit very easy. Initial taste of burning cardboard with overtones of old gym socks. Then settled down to just burning cardboard. Very easy to put down between puffs. Wrapper held together until the last inch or so and then unraveled. Aftertaste is definitely gym socks. If I had a Papayo lying around, I'd smoke it just to cover up the aftertaste.

Smoke ring test: Tried a couple. Nada.

Buy another can? Absolutely, but only for the can.
