Getting back to DAVE'S point, what I was saying is that if his ideal
government is going to provide poor people with "basic necessities",
then it needn't pay for their electricity. Poor people can't afford
electricity -- bummer.

In Wisconsin, we have a state law that prohibits utilities from
disconnecting electricity...during the winter months...in other words,
electric heat is a necessity here, but electricity in the summer months can
be cut off if someone doesn't pay their bills.

Actually, I almost buy-in to that (and had forgotten about that rule.)
Of course, is WPS decides to heat your house with coal or something
cheaper than electricity, that should be their option. I mean, if
you're going to be a deadbeat & they're just being nice and not letting
you freeze to death, they should get to choose the means.

....and your heat should be on a separate circuit. Keeping you alive
doesn't have to mean keeping your TV on, your water hot or your
refrigerator running (hey, if it's THAT cold, put your food on the
porch!)

Out of curiosity, if I don't pay my WPS bill for a while and they shut
me off in August, and I keep not-paying, do they turn it back on again
in November? How does that part work?
