Re: OT: snow, snow, cold

Glad you are all right; when I saw the pics of the snow in that area on
our news, I was thinking of you, hoping you were ok. You seem to have a
hard year this year, with Irene before and now the early snow. However,
it seems that a lot of folks there in the US have independent power
sources or at least a non-electric device for cooking. Three cheers for
Winter BBQ-ing! ;-)

At least the pics got my husband to move; we keep the 'other' set of
wheels for the family car where he has his scaffolding parts. So
whenever it's time for changing them, I have to remind him to bring them
here.
tomorrow I'll take the wheel rims to the repair shop and have the new
winter tyres fitted and mounted. . Well, I'm not
exactly expecting snow from next week on, but we have a regulation here
in Germany that fines you quite heavily if they catch with the wrong
tyres on in wintery road conditions. And I remember that last Winter, I
was just in time; I heard on the forecast that is was to be frosty with
a chance of snow, had the wheels changed and from that day on on we had
quite heavy (for our area where a single snowflake on the roads causes
public life to collapse) snowfall and snow that stayed until shortly
after New Year (or so, my memory fades a little here).

Thanks Ursula, I've reached the point in life where I know I can't fight nature and so try to look at all these weather things as an adventure. I'm fortunate to have family close by and that makes a big difference when Mom Nature takes over. MY oldest granddaughter, who is 25, says that it's Mother Nature with PMS. I love that description.
I'm happy to hear that our bad weather was enough to convince you DH that it's time to put on winter tires. Drive safe.
