Re: Another one about machines...

Thank you all for your input!

As for older machines: No, I'm cured of that one after my adventure with the Husqvarna 2000. I want something new and lightweight. And I don't think I want to spend more than 200.- to 300.- on it. I doesn't need to do anything but straight and zigzag, back and forth. I've looked at a couple of Kate's suggestions and it seems that you get a load of fancy stitches in the deal, too, no matter what.

As for the Bernina: I've got the money now. And I'd better spend it on the machine of my dreams before inflation sucks it up. However, since I'll probably do more quilting than embroidery (sorry Beverly, but I'd better not bite off more than I can swallow), I might go for another model, but that I'll find out in the shop one of these days.

Kate, which one of the Brothers did you test? My brain is a sieve these days, so please forgive me asking the question.

And I've looked at a couple of Janomes, Jukis, AEGs, and other brands. Most starter models begin at about 200.- and I think that might do. Of course it would be nice to have a machine that can handle denim pants in sewing class... Yes, I know, you all have 'decent' machines, so you can't probably help from your own experience in this case. I was just so sick and tired of lugging that Husqvarna in and out of the car.

Hmmm, it seems that my collection is growing rapidly... Yes, I've been warned that it's contagious. ;-)
