Thanks. Like I say in the LJ article, there are things
I'll modify next time round (an this time, in a couple of
instances), but on the whoole, I'm pleased with it. If
it wasn't for the stinky head cold, I'd have tested it
this evening!
You mentioned you might "...hack a good three inches out of
that front band that scrunches the insert down". I'm
thinking adding a row of gatheres (or sew elastic) to the
CF, under that strip would more evenly distribute the
gathers and make it fit better. More like the perky young
thing in the first link you provided:

Those gathers certainly appear to be held in place by more
than just the band.
