How tall are you? One of my DSILs is 6ft 7in and has no problems sleeping
comfortably on their queen size bed, and on mine, when they visit. I give
my bed up to them and use a twin size for the couple nights, they are here.
The covers are 100" and he is a mere 79", if my numbers are correct, leaving
plenty of room to cover his toes. Of course, the comforters are 110".

I just went in a measured a standard mattress.
It was a full sized and not a king or queen, but they are all the same
length more or less.
Length of mattress is 74”.
After laying a pillow on the bed, and laying on it so that it is under
my head and not my shoulders and the pillow is not pressed right up
against the head board, from the top of my head to the foot of the
mattress is 68”.
6 foot is 72”.
That has 4 inches of foot hanging over the end of the bed.
I am 6’ 3”, so that leaves 7 inches of me hanging over, if I keep the
pillow tucked right up against the head of the bed and don’t have a
foot board in my way.
And yes, the comforter may cover my feet, but the electric blanket
will not (as with most blankets), and there is nothing but air under
my feet so that will never be real warm.
Kind of like having a house with only 3 walls.
And a California king is only 4” longer then normal, so that still
leaves me hanging over the end.
The next time your buddy comes over, have him lay on your bed, on his
back, with a pillow under his head in a normal fashion, then look at
where his feet are.
Sure, he may not gripe, and may be comfortable enough, but ask him if
he would like a bed and bedding that was 9 foot long and see what he
will say.
While you are at it, ask him about buying clothing at wal-mart that
fit him.
I have been putting up with this situation ever since I was 13 years
old (now 50+) and so yes I can sleep on what I have, just like you can
sleep on a divan if that is all there is.
I simply want to offer the same to people like me as is offered to the
rest of the people.
BTW
Yes, the NBA (as well as many others who did not make that cut but was
still tall enough) is exactly the market that I am aiming at in my
idea of selling a few of these.
I Don't know where you buy your king size bed but mine is a standard
king at 80" and my queen is the same length as i s my extra long full
size bed.
So that leaves you with 5 inches.

Check your math again.
I need 81 inches to be flush with the foot of the bed and have my
pillow pushed right up against the head of the bed.
86 inches to actually have moving room like a normal person.
And my measurement was on a full sized bed, as I do not have a king.
