I had the model of Hoover that beat out the Dyson a few years ago.
It was a great vecuum. The switch went out in it though too quick
so I returned it. I replaced with another Hoover from Costco that
took bags. It was self propelled and that motor pooped out within
months. SO I bought a Dyson. It vacuums about the same as the
bagless hoover did. It cost a lot more money and I expect it better
hold up better. It is really ackward to to the attachments from
regular vacuuming. That is my biggest complaint. I am curious to
see how well it holds up. Good luck in your search.
