Where is my facing?

So, I finally made up my mind in deciding between the PatternMaster
software and a new machine, and the software won. Tried it out, made
the sloper for my wife (Jennifer) and it turned out to fit exactly.
This was a major milestone, as she claims that nothing has *ever* fit
perfectly since junior high. :-/ So on to the first real project, a
cotton flannel nightgown.
She had a candidate garment to base the design off of, a pretty (and
modest, how'd *that* happen) version from Vicky Secret that I had to
modify when she first got due to the neckline being too wide. A very
straight forward design; a basic sheath with wide straps that attach to
a puffed sleeve.
I printed out the pattern, pasted it together and cut it all out, then
went through the exercise of visualizing how it would go together.
That's when I butted my head on a stump. I realized that the neckline
is apparently not faced.
In all the projects I have done, either there is a collar, or the neck
opening attaches to a lining, or there is a facing. There isn't even a
seam allowance shown for a facing. Does this make sense? What would I
do with the raw edge?
