Elna Supermatic Won't Light Up.



Ok this is bugging me, as cannot find the source of the problem.

My vintage Elna Supermatic flatbed sews just grand, but suddenly the
light will not come on. Tried several new bulbs, including one from
another Elna Supermatic that works just fine, and nothing. Thinking
back, when I first got the machine, the light would fade and brighten
sometimes as the motor raced.

Hate to send my machine off to the repair man at the moment, as have
several projects going. Does this sound like a "home repair", or will it
simply have to go the "doctors"?
