Got some $1/yd stuff at Walmart.
Woven, shiny one side, looks like it could be used for lining, very hard
to blow through, but can be done. Took it home, draped it over a
measuring cup, poured some water in, and it didn't drip. I left it in
maybe 30 seconds. poured the water off, it was very slightly darker on
the non-shiny side that held the water, and very very slightly moist,
more like misty, on the shiny side.
Is this uncoated taffeta?
Can I use it for a rain suit? Sleeping bag?
Or is this considered water-resistant/breathable?
Well, if I don't know what it is, I burn it. No, really.

Start with a burn test to figure out what it's made out of. Then you want
to consider the weight of the fabric before you decide what to do with it.

pig.
