Re: Moppinh Heated Brow!

Ah, a usual Sydney summer's day! I can understand exactly what you're going
thro. Here we're going thro a cold snap (around 14C) and we've had enough!
I sympathise with the school hall heat - for some reason my daughter's
concerts always seem to be on the hottest and most humid days of the year
with no breeze. Congratulations to James and his fellow performers - real
troupers if they can do all that in the heat.

It got up to 38.5 degrees C in the conservatory (that's 101.3 in F). Then
I had to put the iron on to press the customer garments! Akkk! <Thunk -
Kate hits floor>

Never mind... The customer (mother of bride) was delighted with her dress
and jacket, which do look rather nice (and yes, there will be pix!).

I also saw my on-going bride today, and she LOVES what I did with her
mum's dress - and especially that I managed to cut her top out of the
train only (without using too many of the stained areas) so the dress
itself is still intact! :) She'll be back for a final fitting on Monday,
and with luck (and some cooler weather!) it'll all be done by next Friday!
:) There are more pix of this project to go up on the web site when I get
them sorted...

After all this drama, I had to go to see James in his final dramatic
outing for the school as the wizard in their version of The Wizard of Oz.
I swear it was TWICE as hot and humid in the hall as it was in the
conservatory! How some of those kids managed in their furry outfits (the
Cowardly Lion and Toto were in fur fabric get-up!) I will never know! And
this was the second performance today! James came over really well as the
wizard, and could even be heard when the mike failed... Takes after his
mum in the voice department! ;)

I was having an idle moment, and counted up the bits of costume in the
play that I have made over the years...

Aunt Em's dress: one of a pair of 'Victorian' dresses made for a play a
couple of years back...

The lion's suit: I made this for James when he was in reception! It's on
the costume gallery...

Toto's dog suit: started as a donkey suit about 4 years ago...

The Wicked Witch's dress: the under gown from a wizard costume made for
James when he went to a themed birthday party...

James's wizard robe: part of an Aragorn outfit made for Book Week last
year...

It's good to see that they are recombining and recycling the costumes!
