Well that seems to be good news.
I'm not looking for apologies .... to give or get. No demands,
promises or limitations but I'd do feel the need to post a "wish
list" .... if you will. These seem to be things that spark the chain
reactions.

No remarks about political issues
No remarks about religious issues
No agendas. Namely .... Robert constantly and overbearingly pushing
his website. In return, when it's appropriate, I will refer people
to his website. (at least I will and I would hope others will also,
same as we do for Jim R.)

Can I add some?

NO talking about strange byke garnment (thats for pos Leuck)

No talkin about wife fro other country (thats for bass)

No thatlking about canadian counter clerk (thats for Olson)

No talking about french coward (thats for me!)

No talking about Brinks boat Anchor (thats for Rojas)

And the last one...

dont fucking talk about anything!!

GEEEEeeeee!!! we are falling into politicly correctness!!!

Jim I never saw you acting as such a wuss!!

Look Petrum, I just picked all the things that I saw as triggers to
arguments that led to long threads containing nothing but garbage..
It's that garbage that's caused this group to be shunned by lots and
lots of people in and out of the trade. I don't remember exactly how
long you've been here but years ago, there were at least twice as many
"regulars" as there is now. We used to have people from all over the
world coming here to talk alarms and now there's just a handful left,
with not much sign of anyone new "joining up" for a pretty long time.
If we can maintain some stability here, gradually more people will
join in and we can at least try to keep it as sane and placid as
possible. I think that in spite of all that's happened here, there's
still a pretty viable group of people with a good cross section of
alarm knowledge. I think that it might even be to the groups long term
benefit that it went through the tumultuous times that it did. All of
us here now, are quite aware of what causes problems and perhaps with
that experience we can keep things under control. I know that's pretty
high hopes after all that's happened here, but maybe it's a pipe dream
that will happen.

We'll see.

Jim i totaly agree with you that it would be fun to see a NG with a cleaner
look ,but You will have to agree that if we cant talk about anything else
then alarm stuff this NG will go from about 30 post a day to about 5 ....

Now its right to say that those 5 post would be more interresting then the
25 other post, but I am sure that it would lead this NG to die...

what we need to do is more simple then stop posting about anything but
alarm.. what we need to do is respect the other people here, we could
discuss lot of stuff if the strong temper of the place could just resist
going to personal insult as soon as someone doesnt think the same as they
are..-

That really sounds great but unfortunately, that's not the way it
works here and in real life. Ever try to talk politics or religion
with relatives?  It's just something that is "more likely" to lead to
conflict ......... than if you didn't. I just think that rather than
test the "over the top" levels of various individuals, including
you ....... and me, it would be better to not even get near the
subjects. For instance, you've got your feelings about Israel and I
strongly disagree with you. If you kept constantaly posting things
that I disagree with, I'm eventually going to take you to task for it
( because if you can use this forum to post YOUR views then why can't
I? ) I've got to defend my views as you have to defend yours)
and .......... then ..... we're off  !!!!

Because of past history I happen to think that the repeated
problems ... over and over again .... that these subjects has caused,
that it's too risky and I won't be the first one to bring them up.

But those are my reasons. If you want to stir the pot, with the
possible long term bad results ............ that's your
responsibility. I'm saying ...why take the risk? We've tried it the
old way for much too long and look where it took us.  I'm just
suggesting a different way.

RHC: As you say, there are certain topics and issues that are very
personal, and discussions along these lines can easily end up in a lot
of needless and non productive heat and disagreement..... politics and
religion being two of the obvious ones. Perhaps we can all just be a
bit more sensitive whenever these "hot button"issues come up, both
from the point of view of the sender and the receiver. If someone
disagrees, so be it...say so, give your THOUGHTFULL reasons for
disagreeing and then LET IT BE. When someone responds, before they hit
the "send" key, read the message over and try to anticipate how this
will be received by the reader(s). As I once said (about 10 years
ago), pretend you are standing on a podium in front of a large
audience of people, and try to phrase your response as you would in
that situation. No one would use undue profanity, or insult the
audience, or act in any way less than a mature, responsible adult I'm
sure. Then remember your internet audience is an untold number of
times larger than that audience before you !!

Pardon me if this sounds a bit like some sort of schoolyard lecture,
but it really all boils down to acting and responding in a mature,
responsible and civilized manner, all the while being sensitive to
others feelings. And when you feel that urge to lash out in anger at
someone's stupidity (and I guarantee you will....) remember what
several of my customers have said to me. They had found this
newsgroup, and had read it in quite some detail while remaining silent
"lurkers". They formed their opinions (in these cases of me) based on
my posts and that was one of the things that made them decide to do
business with me. Your customers may well do the same....looking like
anything other than a professional could hit you directly in the
pocketbook ...hey, you never know who is out there.....

The posts on this newsgroup which are off topic can be interesting and
enjoyable for all it they are not interlaced with vitriol and
accusations. However, from my perspective, no more discussions on
biking, gun control, ADT stupidity, or long term contracts (other than
a mild reference to them when appropriate and a link to the page on my
website warning them of the downsides). This pretty much restricts me
to casual banter and security matters...so be it...Others can decide
what they think they had best stay away from based on past history of
what they have said that created turmoil. It's not about political
correctness; it's about respect for those you are dialoguing with !!

Perhaps if we all give these points due consideration (as well as the
valid points Jim brings up), this newsgroup can return to a forum
where people can be comfortable posting without fear of a tongue
lashing for some real or imagined sin. And perhaps, guys like Irv
Fisher (now living in Uraguay) will return to add his brilliant and
oftimes totally different perspective on matters (you wouldn't believe
the things he's told me they do down there to secure their
homes.......!!!!..)

This CAN work...and plaudits to you Jim for starting the ball
rolling.... <

I'm using your post for the reply but the reply is for all.

Does this mean I have to stop poking fun of jigaboos, chinks, piss
skins, spics, prairie niggers, camel jockeys, dot heads, krauts,
kikes, polocks, micks, dagos, dune coons, puck heads, bootlips,
limeys, fags, retards, homeless, and cripples?

RHC: Ok Tom, whatever lights your lamp...:)) Just insult 'em
"respectfully" that's all.....:))

Why in the name of Sister Sarah's snatch do grown fucking men need to
come to agreement on what can and cannot be said? *** that.

RHC:Uh, what's been suggested to date are not "rules" so much as
suggestions on how to keep things civil. Last time I checked, that
happens in most civilized groups, nations, clubs (you substitute the
name of the collection of individuals).

Here's a
real simple solution for everyone. Knock it off with the senior
citizen temper tantrums. If you wish to tell someone to *** off then
do it but for the love of Palin's *** you don't need to post the
same fucking message for years on end. You can always try to ignore
any posts you dislike rather than feel obligated to share your
worthless views for the umpteenth time. Nobody gives a ***. That's
been proven time and time again.

RHC: Speaking personally, I'll keep that in mind....

Be civil to each other or don't be civil. That's your choice but when
the group gets flooded with thousands of messages all saying the same
thing it gets annoying, and I'd wager that is the main reason most
people have left, or have considered leaving. Maybe in time some of
those folks will return to posting.
I'm not changing my posting habits, nor will I agree to temper my
language because a few of you jackasses finally decided it's time to
quit ruining this place with the nonsense, and anyone that does amend
their posting habits to satisfy these few knuckleheads needs to grow a
set of balls. Your freedom of speech shouldn't be affected because a
few goofs don't know how to act.
I have lost any internet respect I had for many of you, which that and
a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee, but all the same there are
some here who I wouldn't give the time of day to.
As always I wish you all a very *** you and a happy suck my ***.

RHC: I'll pass on the greetings if it's all the same with you;
however, glad to see you're still in fine fighting form....:))
