Military occupation is terror

Officials of the Israeli apartheid regime strove 10 years ago to explain to visiting former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw that Israeli repression of the Palestinians didn't constitute a form of terrorism while Palestinian resistance to it did.

The Israeli regime official told him that "Israel" was angry about Straw's statements in Iran. While In Iran, Straw suggested that much of the violence in the Middle East had to do with Israeli oppression and repression of the Palestinian people.

Israeli president Shimon Peres met with Straw, but the meeting was described by an Israeli official as "less than cordial." The Israeli paper reported that Peres told Straw that "nothing justifies the murder of children, women and civilians." However, when Straw retorted that many Palestinian children, women and civilians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers, Peres dodged Straw's remarks, saying "that is a different matter." Israel has been trying rather rabidly to negate any linkage between violence in the Middle East, especially anti-American and anti-Israeli violence, and Israeli oppression of Palestinians.

The Israeli aim here is to forestall and avoid possible American pressure that could force the Hebrew state to end its decades-old occupation and apartheid in Palestine. Since the outbreak of the Palestinian first uprising against Jewish apartheid, the Israeli occupation army and paramilitary Jewish terrorists killed over thousands Palestinians, a third of them children and minors. More than 20,000 Palestinians were also injured and maimed, many with crippling disabilities and handicaps that will stay with them for the rest of their life.
