Passing a chain of resolutions in vain
2007/06/22
Interim Friday Prayers Leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Sayed Ahmad
Khatami said in his first sermon that passing a chain of resolutions
against the Islamic Republic of Iran is not going to solve any
problem.
Addressing thousands of Tehrani worshipers at central campus of Tehran
university, this week's Friday preacher of the capital considered the
new round of IRI-EU talks on our country's nuclear issue as a positive
move and a step forward, arguing, "the only solution to that problem
is through negotiations, since logical and rational talks always yield
fruit."
Addressing the Europeans, he said, "you have already been cheated by
Americans a number of times. In the past you terminated the process of
negotiations and assisted in passing the UN Security Council
resolutions, but you gained no tangible result out of such efforts."
Khatami emphasized, "if the European leaders have any share of wisdom
they should accept the fact that even a long chain of resolutions
against Iran would lead no where. It is a blot on your reputation to
fall preys to the trap laid by the Americans so easily."
He added, "if rational and logical negotiations would proceed ontheir
natural path, they would definitely bear fruit, leading to elimination
of the worries."
The Interim Friday Prayers Leader reiterated, "any time that Iran
begins another round of talks with the Europeans the psychological war
of the Americans, too, gets aggravated."
Focusing on recent remarks by American President George W. Bush on
IRI, he said, "Bush recently said that all options, particularly the
military alternative, are on the table for countering Iran."
Member of the Leadership Experts Council reiterated, "America's
President had also better know that the Iranian nation, too, has all
options, including a big fist on the mouth, on the table for
countering America severely."
Analyzing the western liberal democracy from a Qur'anic viewpoint, he
said, "at the scene of the western liberal democracy we see a whole
bunch of lies and contradictions. They claim to be the standard
bearers of the human right and democracy, taking instrumental
advantage of them."
He emphasized, "recent developments in the region highlighted the
contraditions existing in the behavior of the West, since the states
that are hoisting the flag of campaign against terrorism are the ones
that created safe havens for the terrorists in 1981, and praised them
for their wretched acts against human rights."
The Friday Prayers Leader reiterated, "the terrorist that caused the
heavy bomb explosion at the central office of the Islamic Republic
Party fled to the West, and his message for the western countries was
that you are the nurturers of the terrorists, not fighters against
them."
Khatami reiterated, "today, too, the liar America supports the
Mojahedin Khalgh Grouplet terrorists in Iraq, and under such
conditions that the government of Nouri al-Maleki openly announces its
will to deport them, Washington creates obstacles in that regard."
He added, "America and the European countries on the one hand
propagate for democracy and the rule of the majority, and on the other
hand observe so much enmity against the people's chosen government in
Palestine," this week's Friday preacher of Tehran added, "in recent
months, too, they set aside the legal government of Palestine,
compromising with an unpopular pro-peace Palestinian group,
immediately recognizing the legitimacy of the coup government there."
Khatami emphasized, "those governments had better realize that double
standards would no longer work for them, and that their behavior has
led to the emergence of a new generation of resistance in occupied
lands."
He added, "the Americans claim they are after the establishment of
democracy and peace in Iraq, but then openly, and outside the power
realm of the legal government there, they arm the tribes, obviously in
a bid to foment crisis there."
Member of the Leadership Experts Assembly pointing out that the main
root for the lack of security in Iraq is America, added, "the Al-Qaeda
sympathizers, and the Ba'thists in Iraq all eat hay from the same
barn, and they are all willing to topple the popular government
there."
Khatami then focussed on the British Queen's decorating of the
disbeliever Salman Rushdi with a knight medal, as a sign of Britain's
direct confrontation with 1.5 billion Muslims around the globe.
He said, "the old, and decrepit British colonialism that claims to be
the standard bearer of the human rights is now awarding a wretched
bankrupt fellow that has insulted the sanctities of 1.5 billion
Muslims."
Posing the question, "is that the meaning of the human rights and the
western civilization of yours?"
He added, "the old and feeble British government had better realize
now that it is no longer an empire, but an ear-ringed slave of the
Americans."
Pointing out that the Islamic movement is gaining momentum around the
globe, he said, "under such conditions the height medal of honor of
Britain is given to a wretched fellow that knows no art at all."
Khatami added, "the Islamic world is unanimously protesting against
that new insult, and in Islamic Iran, too, the verdict issued against
Salman Rush die is still in effect, and irrevocable.
He emphasized, "the British had better know they are for sure the
losers in this scene."
