U-S military: Predator aircraft watches, then kills roadside

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A top U-S military commander says the enemies in
Iraq should know they're being watched.

Central Command says an unmanned aircraft detected and killed three
Iraqis who were trying to plant a bomb in the road north of Baghdad. The
statement says an Air Force Predator fired a Hellfire missile after the three
dug a hole, planted an explosive, and ran triggering wires to a roadside
ditch.

U-S authorities say they watched the operation for about half an hour while
cameras on the Predator sent back live pictures.

Brigadier General Frank Gorenc says the strike should "send a message"
that the U-S will take action "any time, day or night" against insurgents.
