so why haven't muslims written this outside the quran e.g. commentary,
or science.
you only decided this interpreteation now

Read my reply in the "The Expansion of the Universe" thread started
by the same izlamist kook. I observed how after centuries of
insisting the world was flat and citing biblical passages as proof,
that once the evidence of a round earth orbiting the sun became so
irrefutable, the xians turned around and claim that the various
biblical passages referring to flat, four corners, etc. were mis-
translations, that the proper translations said it was round all
along.

Anyway, while there are virtually no xians anymore who believe the
earth is flat, there are moozlums who believe so. Here is a quote
from one of their insane ragheaded izlamic scholars:

-------------------------------------------------------------
"The earth is flat. Whoever claims it is round is an atheist
deserving of punishment."
-- Sheik Abdul-Aziz Ibn Baaz, supreme religious authority of
Saudi Arabia, 1993
-------------------------------------------------------------
Ibn Baaz (Rahimahullah) never said so. Words put in his mouth.

Following is a synopsis of what is being taught by the respected Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمة الله عليه about the issue in question, which clearly impeaches the lies and slanders against the respected scholar of Islaam.

The Shaikh Ibn Baaz: According to the people knowledge (scholars of Islaam) the earth is round; for indeed Ibn Hazim and a group of other scholars mentioned that there is a consensus (unanimous agreement, Ijmaa') among the people of knowledge that it is round. This means that all of it is connected together thus making the form of the entire planet like a ball.
