But it's our media that takes
every opportunity to pounce on them for any mistake and make those
mistakes sound like the norm - that is the problem.

That's not the way I read it. Doing a fine job is the norm.
Reporting on that would be more of the function of cheerleaders rather
than the press.

"Dog bites man" is not news. "Man bites dog" is.

"Cheney shoots pheasant" is not news. "Cheney shoots peasant" is. :-)

The major of
Tal'Afar isn't the only one who has had this experience. But the
experience is seldom allowed to slip past the left wing media. This
letter only got out due to bloggers. You will never see it in the NY
Times. Had it been some case of Amercian cruelty the Times would have
had it on their front page again and again.

And it is the cruelty that needs to be exposed so that doing a fine job
remains the norm.

IMO.
