To think that Democracy can work in an Islamic state is total absurdity.
It flies in the face of all Islamic teachings and, contrary to the
revisionist beliefs of US's own brand of religious fundies, is a
commitment to secular, or at least, religious neutral societies.
Democracy will be used simply to sweep away any government intent on
controlling or moderating Islam, and to put in place a pure theocracy.
Either Bush is a raving fundamentalist idiot or he is doing this
democratization in the ME thing for greed and self interest. In either
case, the US citizenry is being duped. We are paying in lives and the
borrowed dollars selling out our own future.
