"Like almost every major prophet before him, Muhammad fought shy of
serving as the transmitter of God's word, sensing his own inadequacy.
But the angel commanded 'Read.' So far as we know, Muhammad was unable
to read or write, but he began to dictate those inspired words which
would soon revolutionize a large segment of the earth: 'There is one
God.'

wow.

maybe that is why millions of muslim remain illiterate, following the sunnat of mohammad. If Allah had any use of the ability of a muslim to read or write, Allah will endow hiim with this ability whenever the time comes.

-------

On the other hand, there are some websites which state that when Gibreel asked mohammed to read the first revelation appointing him the rasool, mohammed confessed that he can't read or write so is unable to read that. Then Gibreel read it out for mohammed.

That version sounds more realistic than the suddenly acquired ability to read and write.

That only shows that muslims are ashamed that their prophet was illiterate, thus they end up attributing him ability to read and write by mysterious means.

"In all things Muhammad was profoundly practical. When his beloved son
Ibrahim died, an eclipse occurred, and rumours of God's personal
condolence quickly arose. Whereupon Muhammad is said to have announced,
'An eclipse is a phenomenon of nature. It is foolish to attribute such
things to the death or birth of a human being.

Ibrahim is said to be mohammed's son from his 12th wife, Maria Al Qibtiyya, an Eqyptian maid servant, whom prophet had married in 627, The son Ibrahim was probably born in 628 or in Mar 630 and had died aged 10 months

There are some sites which dispute it.

Seems that the writer of the above article is authenticating the marriage and parenthood.

More later.
