Re: The promise of Atheism

True, but the interesting thing is that we all (Atheist and Christian
alike) walk
in faith all of the time. We have faith in our food system. We cannot
see what is
in or not in the food we eat (we know people have gotten seriously sick
at times

That is flat out untrue. I am not sure that my food is safe, yet you are sure that your God exists. I can be convinced by contrary evidence that my food is unsafe. Nothing will cause you to even doubt that your God does not exist.

Religious faith is a belief in something that you really want to be true but for which there is little, contradictory, or no evidence. For instance, people do not say that they have faith that they will be struck and killed by a falling 2000 pound weight, because that is not something they want to believe. So why would an atheist believe that there is no God and that he his mortal, when that is not an appetizing thing to believe? Because judging by the evidence it is true.

You persist in equating belief based on evidence, experience, and logic with belief based on wishful thinking. But you are just a flag-bearer for all the other people whose belief needs to be bolstered by seeing someone still carrying that flag.
