many reliable sources found by google search state with references that
the rcc inquisition lasted 1200 years to 1830 ad. and that millions of
people were tortured and put to death over that time period. official
catholic websight state that their inquisition lasted 400 years and 3000
people were put to death by direction of the popes.perpetrators of any
injustice tend to minimize the amount of involvement .so i suppose the
truth is somewhere in between these years and numbers. the inquisitions
and the recent child molestations in the last century causes me to
question the infalability that catholics think their popes have
posessed. i cannot dismiss all the well meaning,sincere good catholic
people i have met and talked to during my investigation of the
inquisitions. i also admire their devotion to the church. i have met
many people first hand that were molested by preists when they were
children. and have witnessed the pain and greif they have and are still
suffering from the molestations. most have renounced their faith in the
rcc.they feel correct in doing so, but also feel guilt,hate and
depression over it to this day. the fact that bishops moved child
molesting preist from church to church to hide the crimes hurts them
more. i can understand them losing trust in the church they were born
into and raised in... most catholics i met were angered by the subject
of the inquisitions and the child molestations . rightfully so, they had
nothing to do with it except paying tithes that enabled the church to
hide the molestations as they were occuring. the inquisition was
hundreds of years before they were even born , but hated thinking that
their church could have done such a thing in the name of christ .
for me, haveing been molested by a preist many times as a young boy ,
and now knowing about the truth of the inquisitions , i can never return
and have trust in the rcc. but for those of you that are in the rcc
church and have not had your life torn apart by it and love it, i wish
you the best . lucas
