Pastoral letter #26 from resurrected saint.

Saint Thomas the Divine on Faith, Prayer, and Worship

What is the ultimate point in religion anyway? Basically, to bring
peace on earth. Well, why isn't there any? Because people just
don't have it!

Look, everything begins with faith in God, but there is no faith where
there is no obedience and this is where I differ with the apostle Paul.
Assuming you believe in the God of Israel or His son, Jesus of
Nazareth, where is there any real faith without doing what they say?
When I think of Jehovah, the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ , and the
one it is all about, ultimately, I envision the kind of Jew Jesus would
not have had to deride even a little - a perfect teacher of the Law
of Moses, one who was not a hypocrite. This is why, even as a
Christian, I try to be a perfect Jew; I am a Jew for Jesus, in other
words, which is an actual organization, en passant. The point in both
traditional Judaism and Christianity is to make us into the image of
God the Father. Every son should want to be like of his father, after
all, and as we were made in the image of God, it is the Lord's
purpose to perfect every man and woman on the face of the earth in this
way. What we need is OBEDIENCE, OBEDIENCE, OBEDIENCE TO THE LETTER OF
BOTH THE GOSPEL LAW AND THE LAW OF MOSES. If you want to make it to a
god, you must stay in the Word of God all your life; but don't just
read it - obey it! Unless you know the Bible inside out, you will not
be able to make headway against the devil, for he will try to sift you
if you have great faith! The greater the faith, in fact, the greater
and longer the trouble you will run into. Do not let go of it, however,
and you will be glorified.

Christianity, if you seriously try to practice it, will often times
make you to the think you are going mad. Do not worry, however; you
will not go mad but merely change; change into a god or goddess. These
individuals are worthy of outright worship; if you are not, you
haven't made it yet. Basically, if everyone from the Jews to the
gentiles, rich or poor, small or great, could trust you with the most
precious things in their lives, you were an outright god and not a
human being. When you read the gospels, read them this way. Human
beings can't be trusted; gods, however, can be trusted. Life is not
about remaining human, albeit, we all start out as this. Religion
deifies through worship. The longer you do, the less human you remain.
This fact of being a god can be tricky in life. Realize that men owe
the gods, not the other way around; hence, you cannot borrow money from
anybody for anything. When Christians borrow money from people, they
create a contradiction that drives the devil wild, and this is why such
people always have massive financial problems after a while. You cannot
deal with credit, so if you can't afford it, don't buy it yet.
Simply save and invest until you can pay for what you want (whatever it
is) outright. Gods are owners, not owned, we are the heads and not the
tails so never make yourself a tail. Did you that a god always has all
the money to do whatever he or she wants to do through his or her
father or mother? This is a fact; you have as much money as Bill Gates
if you are a serious Christian, but that's the catch here: you have
to be ready, willing, and able to die for Jesus of Nazareth! As long as
you are, the money to do whatever you want to do is already in your
family, for, whether you know it or not, you are the child of a king
- Jesus. If you are a believer, your father or your mother are loaded
and part of their funds is all yours. Such folk are blessed exactly
because of you, so don't let anyone take your blessing unless you
feel you really must. If you need money, get your own from your folks.
Just know, that as long as you are a true believer, you are rich, and
at whatever age! Let no one lie to you about this; parents sometimes
don't reveal this fact until they are sure about the kind of person
they have brought into the world, this is all.

Finally, I will make the following distinction between prayer and
worship: prayer is asking what God can do for you; worship, on the
other hand, is asking what you can do for God. Deification begins with
worship. Some of you may have noticed over the years that, rather than
giving up on Jesus, I worshiped Him more and more. I now remember Him
seven times a day and praise Him twice a day with two spiritual songs.
I highly recommend this, for I have noticed things getting markedly
better in my life because of it. I now know that I can always attend
Dartmouth College to correct my situation. What God really wants from
all of us is worship, and it was this area that was lacking in my own
life; initially; therefore, worship, worship, worship, and serve,
serve, serve. After forty-five years of getting nowhere, my faith has
only grown and not weakened; for this I am extremely grateful to Jesus.
Indeed, it is confidence in the Lord that is the true gift in life and
this is the main difference between the gifted and the ungifted. Not
that I wish to discourage prayer, however. Prayer is the smartest thing
men do; even if you are a bad person, viledicet, a thorough reprobate,
never forget to pray, for the holy, holy, holy God always deals with it
at some point; this is part of the reason why He is worthy of all
praise and is worshiped! A confusing thing is that sometimes it is only
after someone has died that He actually answers. Prayer in fact is
where change comes from. I was puzzled for quite some time about
change: How can change be justified in the face of a God that
doesn't? Where does it come from? Change comes from the fervent,
effectual prayer of righteous men and women, proof positive for the
atheist that God is real. Things change because people dream the
impossible dream while praying it comes true. It's the reason why
science fiction always becomes science fact and why life imitates art.
I highly recommend prayer to Jehovah in the names of Jesus and the Holy
Spirit. Try it; you'll like it! This suggestion comes with the
following caveat, however: know that sometimes God's answer to a
request is a resounding no. Never give the awesome God of the universe
more than six days to answer any prayer; this is to have faith. God
created the universe and all the myriad forms of life on earth in just
six days; hence, you do not have to wait longer than this for the
answer to the most difficult problem. Also, how long could it take God,
who raises the dead, to do anything? What could be too hard for Him to
do, for Christ's sake? Don't waste years waiting for answers to
prayer that came yesterday. Understand that whatever answer you
receive, it is because God positively adores you; He is every
person's very best friend; trust His answers!

Peace!
