Well of course it's going to be confused with HD Radio. With its DAB plans in tatters, the BBC is trying to piggyback on the success of HD Radio in the U.S..

The BBC HD service really is HD, as it really is high quality.
It's Ibiquity who are trying to confuse people by calling their system HD-Radio. Obviously many people will think the HD in HD-Radio means that the sound is high quality. Most will be very disappointed when they actually hear it.
