Oh, and another thing you might not have seen - Hi-Fi News had the
heads up that when it went live for every one, the bitrate would be
128kbps AAC, in their most recent issue.
Their lead time with news stories is usually about two months, so some
one had decided, and was telling people, that 128k had been chosen,
quite a while back.
Maybe at about the same time as, or just after, some of us were
complaining?
It'll be even better when all the locals are on there too - there are
some gems of programmes on far-flung BBC local radio stations (in
amongst hours of, er, not so good programmes!) - it'll be nice to pick
them up.
I wonder if they'll sound any good? BBC Radio Ulster (which carries a
decent jazz programme) is 128k mp3 currently, but with mono audio
only. Having never been to Ulster, I've no idea if its stereo on FM
(or even if its on FM).
