DAB sound worse than FM wrote:http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/01/26/which_dab/Haven't quite finished reading the article, but already 2 points that I want to make.
I like the idea of a sign in the shop to tell people they are using a repeater. Perhaps something along the following lines:
This store uses a DAB signal booster to aid demonstration of the DAB sets on display. The DAB signal may not be as good when the DAB sets are used at home.
The other think I want to comment on. They said there should be a post code checker in the store, but what use would that be? The post code checker gives information about outdoor mobile coverage, not indoor coverage on a puny portable receiver. Where I live, the postcode checker says that I should get good coverage, but that is certainly not the case indoors.

Course they've been demonstrating FM sets for years, but like its TV
counterpart you'll need a new aerial for these supposedly robust
signals;!...
It's a bit different with TVs, because most people connect their TV directly to a suitable aerial. A rooftop aerial in most cases.
Also a bit different with FM portable sets, as indoor FM signals are usually pretty good, in built up areas.
But for DAB portable sets, far too many people will get poor reception. The DAB networks were never designed to provide indoor portable reception. Providing indoor portable signal levels will apparently be very expensive, so perhaps we could say that the whole DAB system was not designed for indoor portable reception.
